THIS USER MANUAL EXPLAINS HOW TO USE THE TAXI360 SYSTEM IN YOUR TAXI. A QUICK START USER GUIDE IS IN YOUR WELCOME PACK WALLET, AND FURTHER PRINTED COPIES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE FROM OUR OPERATIONS CENTRE.
The TAXI360 system incorporates a Huawei 7” driver tablet which is mounted to the left of the centre console in your taxi. A Verifone Vx680 passenger payment device is fixed in the back of the taxi in the approved TfL position.
Your TAXI360 system is wired to the ignition feed via the fuse box in the luggage compartment (a 10amp fuse is positioned near the battery).
With the tablet powered off, insert the Micro USB cable into the bottom of the tablet.
If your engine is switched on, the tablet charging screen will appear. Press and hold the power button for a couple of seconds until you feel the tablet vibrate. After a few moments, the tablet will load the Taxi360 app.
When the Verifone application launches, you will see the Verifone icon followed by this screen:
Tap the tick on ‘Use by default for this USB device’ then click OK. You will now be prompted to login using your TfL LTPH badge number (this is also your driver PIN number).
Once you have entered your LOGIN ID, click on next (on the onscreen keyboard) or tap on the PIN screen and insert your driver PIN number.
Once done, click on LOGIN. A confirmation screen will appear. Select CONTINUE.
You can print receipts and start transactions etc from your Taxi360 home page. To use the application, tap on the icon you wish to use. Below is a description of the icons you will see on your Taxi360 tablet.
Use this option to enter the full fare for the passenger to pay. NB: The amount should NOT include a TIP which is added by the passenger on the rear passenger terminal.
Card payments can be taken at the start or end of the trip, or split half at the start and half at the end.
Reprints the last transaction receipt
This allows you to refund the last amount that was charged to the passenger.
If your signal goes down, payments can be taken whilst offline and are automatically stored for processing when the signal returns. At the end of your shift, if the icon is showing, tap the icon and any stored transactions will be sent for processing.
Occasionally we may send a download to improve the service. Click this icon to initiate the download. NB: If a download is sent before you have logged in, when you next login, the download will start automatically.
Logs your TfL LTPH badge number out of the system.
Your Verifone Taxi360 payment system accepts payment from all major credit cards in ‘Swipe’ and ‘Chip & PIN’ transactions. In addition, for total transaction values up to £30*, ‘contactless cards’ displaying the contactless symbol are accepted.
Some overseas visitors do not have a PIN on their card so must swipe their card on the magnetic strip reader on the right side of the Vx680 passenger terminal.
When a passenger swipes their card, one receipt marked ‘SWIPED’ will print out with a ‘temporary’ authorisation code. The passenger must sign the receipt, and you must check the signature matches the signature on the card (driver retains this receipt). The Vx680 terminal will ask for confirmation that the signature is valid.
The passenger must select YES on the Vx680 terminal for the card to be charged.
Once YES has been selected, a second receipt will print. ‘SIGNATURE VERIFIED’ will print in the middle of the receipt to show the payment has been successful.
Chip & PIN users must insert their card into the Vx680 passenger terminal ‘chip upwards’ until it clicks into place when prompted. The passenger will then be prompted to enter their PIN number.
You can tell if the passenger used a Chip & PIN card as ‘ICC’ and ‘PIN VERIFIED’ will print on the receipt. Look out for the AUTHCODE.
Any card with the contactless symbol can be tapped on the terminal screen (maximum transaction value £30*).
Similar to a contactless card, Apple or android phones can be tapped on the terminal screen.
The receipt will show ‘NO CARDHOLDER VERIFICTION’. This simply means that the passenger did not enter their PIN or verify signature to prove they are the cardholder.
DON'T WORRY! Banks guarantee contactless transactions (as long as TRANSACTION APPROVED is displayed on the tablet screen).
* Contactless maximum transaction value set by The UK Cards Association and subject to periodical review and change.
Chip & PIN cards require the passenger to enter a PIN. If the card is declined, you should ask for an alternate card.
If a Chip & PIN card fails, you can use swipe to read it.
The passenger can also use contactless cards by tapping their card on the contactless card reader above the passenger terminal (near the symbol) and the money will be debited from their account without having to enter a PIN number.
If the passenger does not have a Chip on their card, they will need to swipe the card when prompted. The black stripe on the back of the card should be swiped on the side of the terminal.
Different information is displayed on the driver tablet and Vx680 passenger terminal during the transaction. The following steps explain each step, and what the driver and passenger must do to complete the transaction.
At the end of swipe or Chip & PIN transactions, the Vx680 passenger terminal will print one receipt (the passenger receipt). You can then re-print a copy for yourself if you wish from the tablet application menu.
Select the FLAT RATE option from the main screen on your driver tablet. Use the onscreen keyboard to key in the amount you wish to charge the passenger.
If the passenger does NOT wish to add a TIP, they must select option 4 (OTHER) and press ENTER.
The driver tablet will display the TIP amount entered by the passenger on their Vx680 passenger terminal.
The terminal will then connect across our network for authorisation of the transaction. The driver tablet will confirm that card authorisation is in progress.
If the transaction is DECLINED or CANCELLED, red screens will show on your tablet and the Vx680 passenger terminal.
The tablet payment screen will remain with the previous value filled in. Ask the passenger for an alternative card to reprocess the transaction.
The passenger will be prompted to enter a TIP and continue the transaction again.
Once approved, the driver tablet screen will show a breakdown of the transaction: Fare, Tip, Total and Authcode.
Tap to continue.
At the end of tap or Chip & PIN transactions, the Vx680 passenger terminal will print one receipt (the passenger receipt). You can reprint a copy for yourself if you wish from the tablet application menu.
Many drivers opt to print an end-of-shift report and/or check their eFleet account via their smartphone instead of reprinting hard copy receipts.
For swipe transactions, the process is slightly different and will require the passenger to select YES when prompted by the Vx680 passenger terminal. Swipe transactions will always print two receipts.
The messages displayed on the driver tablet follow this sequence:
At this point the Vx680 passenger terminal will show the VALID SIGNATURE? screen.
The passenger must remove the first receipt, sign it and pass it to you for checking and safe keeping.
You then need to confirm that the signature matches the signature on the back of the card.
If the signatures match, ask the passenger to tap the √ or press 1 on their
keypad. If they do not match, tap the × or press number 2.
The transaction will continue as normal and the Transaction Approved or Transaction Declined message will be displayed on the driver tablet.
By default, only one Chip & PIN or contactless receipt will print (the passenger receipt). You can then reprint a copy for yourself from the application menu.
You may need to refund a passenger’s card (eg: the passenger used the wrong card to pay). Click the REFUND icon, key in the amount and tap PAY.
The Vx680 passenger terminal will display the REFUND LAST SALE? screen.
Ask the passenger to tap YES. The passenger can then insert, swipe or tap their card.
A passenger copy of the credit receipt will now print.
Sometimes a transaction is taken OFFLINE when no signal is available. If this happens, transactions will be stored and then automatically submitted for processing with the next transaction when the network is available, or the next time you log in to the application.
You can also manually submit stored transactions. From the main screen, tap SUBMIT TRANSACTION.
If no transactions are stored on the terminal, the message No offline transactions will be show.
When submitting offline transactions, the messages displayed on the driver tablet follow this sequence:
If no transactions are stored on the driver terminal, the following message will be displayed:
If you forget to submit any offline transactions, the next time you log into the application, the transactions will automatically submit.
